Autopsy will help determine cause of last night’s fatal Crown Hill fire

Fire investigators are waiting for the results of an autopsy before determining the cause of last night’s fatal fire in Crown Hill, according to the Seattle Fire Department.

The fire was reported just after 7:30 p.m. at  a four-story condo complex at 12th Avenue Northwest and Northwest 85th Street. Firefighters saw flames shooting 10 feet from the second-story balcony of one unit.

The victim’s remains were found on a hide-a-bed in the front room of his apartment, according to Kyle Moore, spokesman for the Seattle Fire Department. The man’s name has not been released.

Neighbors said the victim was not known to be a smoker.

Total damage is estimated at $150,000.
