Driver runs stoplight and hits trooper’s car

Rushing through a stoplight in Kent wasn’t worth it for one driver who ended up colliding with a state trooper Monday night.

Trooper Angela Hayes suffered minor injuries and was sent to Valley Medical Center for treatment after a Kent man driving east on South 277th Street ran a stoplight  near State Route 167, according to the State Patrol. The 49-year-old man ran his 2008 Chevrolet Aveo into the trooper’s car at about 8:25 p.m. as she exited northbound SR 167 for South 277th Street, the State Patrol said. The man was not injured.
