Man struck by propeller at King County Airport

A man who is believed to have been struck on the head by an airplane propeller at the King County International Airport this afternoon was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, according to a spokeswoman for the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 3 p.m., a passerby called 911 after finding an unconscious man lying near an airplane inside a hangar at the airport, also known as Boeing Field, in the 8000 block of Perimeter Road, said sheriff’s Sgt. Cindi West.

The man suffered “a very large head injury,” and while no witnesses saw what happened, “we believe he was possibly hit by a propeller,” West said.

We’ll update this post as soon as we have additional information.
