Marijuana grow operation found inside Seward Park home this morning
Seattle police are investigating a marijuana growing operation discovered inside a house in South Seattle.
Police were called to the home in the 5800 block of Seward Park Avenue around 7:30 a.m. to assist firefighters who were called to home to fight a fire there, said police spokeswoman Renee Witt.
“There were 200 plants spread throughout different rooms of the house. It appears to be an abandoned house, but a man and a dog were living at the house at some point,” Witt said.
Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore said the fire was caused by overheated wires in the basement of the home. Moore said the fire caused $60,000 damage to the home and $10,000 damage to the contents.
