Scholarship fund set up for Maria Goodloe-Johnson’s daughter
The family of former Seattle Schools Superintendent Maria Goodloe-Johnson asks that people who intended to send flowers instead make a donation in her memory to a scholarship fund for her daughter, Maya Jewell Johnson, at the First Federal Bank of South Carolina (c/o Dr. Maria Goodloe-Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund), or to the Dr. Maria Goodloe-Johnson Scholarship, which can be sent to the Twenty Pearls Foundation of Charleston, Inc., P.O. Box 30115, Charleston, SC 29417.
A public memorial event for Goodloe-Johnson will be this Friday in Charleston, South Carolina.
Friends and former colleagues who can’t make the journey to the East Coast can send fond memories and photos of Goodloe-Johnson to her family at firstname.lastname@example.org. Seattle Public Schools is compiling submissions until Dec. 28, then sending the memory book to her family.
Goodloe-Johnson, who was superintendent during the 2007-2010 school years, died Dec. 5 after a battle with cancer.
