SPD increasing patrols around schools for rest of day

The Seattle Police Department increased patrols around schools Friday as a precautionary measure, the department announced in a blog post.

“The department believes it is important for officers to be highly visible at a time like this, and hopes to provide some reassurance to families and school faculty who are understandably concerned about school safety,” according to the blog post.

While noting that “there have not been any threats to schools in Seattle,” police asked residents to contact the department if they see anything suspicious.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office announced in a Tweet that it too is temporarily increasing patrols around schools.
