PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon State Police say two residents of Vancouver, Wash., were killed in a car wreck after they tried to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone on a snow-covered road.
Richard Bruce Fraker was driving a Ford F-250 on Highway 97 north of Redmond on Saturday when he tried to pass a 2012 Ford Focus driven by 19-year-old Justin Hendrix of Madras, Ore. Fraker lost control, struck the other car and both vehicles careered off the highway.
Hendrix brought his car to a controlled stop, but the pickup rolled onto its top. The 68-year-old Fraker was killed, as was one of his passengers, 47-year-old Terry Anne Clampitt. Another passenger, 67-year-old Barbara Fraker, was taken to St. Charles Medical Center in Redmond with possibly serious injuries.
