UW dentistry school receives $1.15 million gift

The University of Washington’s School of Dentistry has received a $1.15 million gift from Delta Dental/Washington Dental Service to transform the way dental education is taught.

Earlier this year the school launched a plan to revamp its clinical education and curriculum, under its new dean, Joel Berg, who became dean Aug. 15.

The gift will help pay for several new faculty and staff positions, and support the work of a curriculum renovation task force and a clinical systems task force appointed by Berg.

The school of dentistry recently hosted several corporate executives for a three-day brainstorming session on how to update and streamline its clinical operations, and is collaborating with the UW’s Foster School of Business to revamp business operations.
