Boy struck by school bus in Ferndale airlifted to Harborview

The Washington State Patrol says a 7-year-old boy struck by a school bus in Ferndale Thursday afternoon has been airlifted to a Seattle hospital.

Troopers say the boy had just gotten off the bus and was crossing in front of it when the bus hit him.

He was taken to Harborview Medical Center. KOMO-TV reported he was in critical condition.

Troopers indicate driver inattention led to the injury. They continue to investigate.
