Friday Memo: Seahawks blue … McDreamy’s here … Poll on Bellevue bar closing

National Weather Service / Forecast
Are you wearing blue today? If you have to ask why we’re asking, it makes us sad. Oh, OK, it has to do with the mayor, the Seahawks and that playoff thing this weekend.
Missing skydiver search: The search for the skydiver who jumped from a helicopter near Mount Si yesterday and then didn’t show up is expected to resume this morning. Crossing our fingers.
That oil rig that went aground in Alaska: Some members of Congress are calling for an investigation into Shell’s offshore drilling operations as salvagers figure out how to move the oil rig drill ship off the rocks. The rig, which went aground Dec. 31 in a storm, hasn’t leaked the 150,000 gallons of fuel on board. A Shell spokesman said the company fully supports an investigation by the Unified Incident Command, made up of federal, state and company representatives.
McDreamy will be swimming in coffee soon: Well not really, but the Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey apparently has won the bid to acquire Tully’s Coffee for more than $9 million. Fan alert, fan alert, fan alert. He’s expected to make an appearance in our town this morning to talk about it. Oops, it’s a media event, not a fan thing. So sorry.
Take our poll on the shuttering of the Bellevue bar: Do you agree with the decision to close the Bellevue mega bar where a Seattle man was shot dead on Christmas Eve? Kemper Freeman Jr., developer of the shopping mall where the bar is located and the bar owner have agreed to close the night spot because it would “be best for the community, guests and the families involved.” Vote in our poll.
