Monday memo: Coffee in India … 2 shot in Central District nightclub … Wilson shines in Pro Bowl
In India, capitalism, coffee on the rise: Two decades ago, the Indian government handled the country’s coffee sales, and sent what one man described as dishwater-tasting coffee to the Soviet Union. But now, as farmers take control of their product, India’s burgeoning coffee-growing and processing industry has greatly improved quality and sales.
It’s still doing that rain thing we keep talking about. Rain is forecast for the next three days but temperatures are expected climb into the high 40s by Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
2 people shot in Central District bar, police kill suspect: Witnesses say a man returned to the Twilight Exit bar last night after he’d been kicked out and shot two people. Witnesses say the man shot the bar’s doorman as well as a woman with whom he had been arguing with before he was kicked out. Seattle police arrived at the scene and shot the man dead after they say he raised his weapon and fired after police identified themselves.
Wilson tosses 3 TDs in Pro Bowl blowout: The NFL commissioner promised to shut the Pro Bowl down if the players turned in paltry performances again like last year when it was clear several lineman flat out didn’t try. Who else to rescue the Pro Bowl with a super effort than Seahawks rookie Russell Wilson? Wilson threw for 3 TDs and 98 yards as the NFC outplayed their AFC counterparts in a 62-35 blowout.
