Sheriff’s deputy, 4 others hurt as vehicles crash

The Washington State Patrol says a King County sheriff’s deputy was one of five people hurt in a Monday evening crash that involved three vehicles near the Pierce County town of Orting.

KOMO-TV says Trooper Guy Gill reports that a minivan collided with a car trying to turn left and the deputy then collided with the minivan on State Route 162.

The male deputy and four people from the van were taken to a nearby hospital. Gill says all are expected to survive. The highway near the wreck was closed for several hours as police investigated.
