Wednesday Memo: Roosters … Death Penalty poll … Road rage

National Weather Service / Forecast
That Bellevue rooster: A couple wasn’t saying cock-a-doodle-do about a noisy rooster in their neighborhood so they complained and now an amused Bellevue city council is considering what to do about fowl in the city.
Death penalty: A few Democratic and Republican state lawmakers want to do away with the death penalty in our state, saying it’s immoral and costly to taxpayers because of the appeals process. They admit their measure isn’t likely to have much success, though. Do you support Washington state’s death penalty law? Vote in our poll.
Road rage in Tacoma: A Tacoma man, 71, has been charged with hitting a woman with a steering wheel locking device after rear-ending her vehicle. Prosecutors say the woman got out of her car to exchange insurance information when the man threatened and hit her. A ferry worker came to the woman’s aid. This one’s a head shaker.
Tolls on I-90: WSDOT hosts two open houses on plans to put tolls on I-90 between Seattle and Bellevue. One open house is today at Bellevue City Hall and there’s another tomorrow at Yesler Community Center in Seattle. Here are the Transportation Department’s plans to add the tolls. The open house details: Bellevue City Hall, 450 110th Ave. N.E. Bellevue, 4- 7 p.m.; 917 E. Yesler Way, Seattle, 4-7 p.m.
