Woman’s body found during homeless count
A woman’s body was found in a grassy area along Rainier Avenue South early Friday by outreach workers doing an annual count of the city’s homeless.
Seattle Police spokesman Mark Jamieson said there were no obvious signs of trauma on the woman’s body. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office was called to the scene and will be conducting an autopsy.
Jamieson said the body was found about 3:45 a.m. a short distance off the roadway in the 1200 block of Rainier Avenue South, near a freeway overpass. It is not known how long the body had been there.
