Man injured in U District balcony fall

A man was injured when he fell from a balcony during a party in the University District Friday night, Seattle police reported.

Police were told the man partly climbed on the railing of a crowded balcony to get around other people when he lost his footing and fell two and a half floors to the street between two parked cars in the 4500 block of 17th Avenue Northeast.

Fire Department medics took him to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The accident occurred about 11:37 p.m.
