Felon with stolen gun arrested downtown

Seattle police say they arrested a wanted felon with a gun just after midnight in the 1900 block of Third Avenue.

The department said a resident called 911 to report a man standing on the sidewalk holding a handgun and talking on the phone.

Seattle police found the suspect near Virginia Street and caught him after a brief chase. Officer said he had a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun in his pants pocket. Records showed the gun had been stolen from a car in Seattle in 2010.

The suspect, who was not identified, was a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a handgun, according to the police department. He waws also wanted on federal warrant. He was booked into the King County Jail.
