Man shot in leg during attempted robbery in Seattle

An 18-year-old man was shot in the leg last night during an attempted robbery, Seattle police said.

The victim was walking through an athletic field in the 2600 block of Southwest Trenton Street around 8:35 p.m. when he was aproached by three unknown males, one armed with a gun, police said.  The victim said the men tried to take his backpack, but he held onto it.

The victim was then assaulted and shot in the right calf.  The three men then fled.

Gang unit detectives are investigating.
