Man shot this morning in Pioneer Square

Updated 7:42 a.m.

A man was shot in the face this morning in Pioneer Square and the shooter has not been caught.

Seattle Police spokeswoman Renee Witt said the shooting happened just before 6 a.m. at Third Avenue South and South Washington Street. The  motive for the shooting is not known.

The victim was alert and conscious, and taken to Harborview Medical Center.

Witt said people in the area heard three gunshots, and then saw people running, including the victim.

Early reports that the victim attempted to hijack a car were incorrect, Witt said.  She said it’s now believed he was asking drivers in the area for help before someone called 911.
