Saturday Memo … Going green … Extra DUI patrols … West Seattle drive-by

Going green: The annual St. Patrick’s Day parade starts at  12:30 this afternoon on Fourth Avenue, running from from Jefferson Street to Westlake Park. That’s just one of several St. Patrick’s Day events around the region this weekend. Judging by the weather forecast, better bring your umbrella if you plan to head to the parade.

Drink? Don’t Drive: Speaking of St. Patrick’s Day, extra DUI patrols are patrolling streets and highways in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties looking for drivers who celebrate a little too much. St. Patrick’s Day is officially tomorrow, but the added patrols will be in effect all weekend, so think before you drink.

Time to move? Seattle police say someone opened fire this morning on a West Seattle home for the second time in a week. No one was hit by the gunfire at the home in the 2000 block of Southwest Cloverdale Street. The occupants of the home tell police they have no idea why anyone would target their home.

520 closure canceled: In case you haven’t heard, this weekend’s planned closure of the Highway 520 floating bridge has been postponed because of rainy weather, the state Department of Transportation said.
