Sunday memo: Shooting in Auburn leaves 3 dead … Beautiful weather for Easter … DUI laws
Weather: Could you ask for a more delightful weekend of weather to ring in Spring and Easter Sunday? Sunny today and 70 degrees; in the 60s the next two. The only oddity — a bit of fog is possible tomorrow.
Three killed in Auburn shootout: Police are sifting through a large, complicated crime scene this morning after gunfire erupted at an Auburn tavern. Three people are dead and one is injured after the a shootout that police described as mayhem. Detectives have detained a person of interest.
DUI laws: Washington began to toughen DUI laws in the late 1990s by decreasing the legal limit, increasing penalties and mandating that a suspected drunk driver’s car be impounded for 12 hours after arrest. But state lawmakers are wondering if these measures are enough after the Wedgwood crash in which a suspected drunk driver killed two people and injured a mother and her newborn.
Pot bars: Gov. Jay Inslee wants the state Liquor Control Board to figure how to stop bars from allowing pot on their premises. Several bars have found loopholes allowing them to circumvent obvious pot violations.
