Wednesday Memo: Spring snow … GMO salmon poll … Another shooting death

Snow in the lowlands? It’s the first day of spring, for goodness’  sake. It’s raining all over the place down here this morning, but there were reports that it might snow overnight. We haven’t seen any. Have you? The weather forecast graphic over on the right has snowflakes in it …

Engineered salmon at your supermarket: Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods are among supermarkets that say they won’t sell engineered salmon even though the FDA says it would be as safe to eat as conventional salmon. Would you buy genetically modified salmon? Vote in our poll.

The Green River Killer lives on behind bars, but his victims should not be forgotten. To that end, a new nonprofit group, the Organization for Prostitution Survivors, is working to raise money and build public support for a permanent memorial to them.

You don’t often hear about shootouts, but the King County Sheriff’s Office’s says that’s what happened in Boulevard Park early this morning, leaving one dead and one wounded.
