15-year-old killed in Alaska snowmobile accident involving DUI
JUNEAU (AP) — Alaska State Troopers say a 15-year-old boy was killed in the village of Aniak in an accident involving a snowmobile driven by a man arrested for investigation of DUI.
Troopers say 26-year-old Philip Simeon was driving a snowmobile across a ditch with open water when it reportedly went airborne late Thursday evening. When the machine landed, it hit Dakota Nicholi, another 15-year-old boy and a parked snowmachine.
Troopers say Nicholi was taken to a medical clinic where he died. The other boy suffered minor injuries.
Simeon has been charged with manslaughter, assault and driving under the influence.
