5-year-old girl escapes stranger at Maple Valley playground
Police have arrested a man who they say tried to grab a 5-year-old girl off her swing at a Maple Valley playground Wednesday night.
The girl, who was playing with a 4-year-old boy at an apartment complex playground on the 21900 block of Southeast Wax Road around 6:30 p.m., kicked and screamed out of the 21-year-old suspect’s grasp, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office. A bystander picked up the 4-year-old boy and another confronted the man, who then left the scene.
After the girl went home crying and her mother called 911, Maple Valley police soon found the suspect a short distance from the apartment complex. He’s been booked into King County Jail for investigation of unlawful imprisonment and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
