Bainbridge bomb squad finds no danger in box
A suspicious box that shut down a part of downtown Winslow on Bainbridge Island for three hours this afternoon contained only a small plastic bag, according to an island news blog. A three-block area around the U.S. Post Office on Winslow Way was cordoned off to ensure bystander safety. The box had the words “Pray for Boston” written on it.
Police and fire authorities established a perimeter around the post office, which is in the island’s commercial district, according to a Bainbridge Island fire department official. A bomb robot was brought in to x-ray the box and a bomb-sniffing dog circled the perimeter of the cordoned-off area.
