Chase after reckless driver ends with fiery head-on crash in Boulevard Park
The pursuit of a reckless driver in Boulevard Park ended in a fiery head-on crash Tuesday night that killed two dogs in the driver’s vehicle.
The King County Sheriff’s Office says deputies chased the driver after an unsuccessful attempt to pull the northbound driver over around 9:15 p.m. on Des Moines Memorial Drive South.
According to Sgt. Cindi West, the driver’s vehicle eventually crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle head-on in the 9600 block of Des Moines Memorial Drive South. Deputies were able to save the pursued driver and a passenger, both with serious injuries, from their flaming vehicle, but not two dogs that died inside.
The driver of the other vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to West.
The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating why the reckless driver did not maintain control of the vehicle.
