Troopers shoot man who rammed car in Shoreline

The Associated Press

The Washington State Patrol says troopers shot a driver who rammed a patrol car after a chase that ended in Shoreline.

The patrol said it started before midnight Thursday when a trooper tried to pull over a car in Lynnwood for a lane violation. The driver took off. As the pursuit ended a patrol car was hit.

Trooper Mark Francis says the trooper involved in the chase and another trooper fired. The suspect was hit in the leg but was able to run a short distance before he was arrested. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The troopers were not hurt. The specific reason for their shooting is under investigation.

The patrol also is investigating whether the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
