How to connect with family, friends in Boston

The Red Cross and Google have set up sites where people in Boston can report their conditions — and family and friends can search for them.

The Red Cross Safe and Well site   is operating, but is very slow due to the high traffic volumes, the agency reports.

Meantime, Google has set up a “person finder” site for the Boston marathon explosions  in which people can look for someone or share information about someone.

In addition, officials report that people looking for loved ones can also call the Boston mayor’s hotline:  617-635-4500.
