Man critically injured by truck at North Seattle QFC
A delivery truck backing into a loading dock at a QFC supermarket in North Seattle hit and critically injured a man shortly after 5 a.m. today.
Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore said the victim, who appeared to be in his 30s, was unconscious and unresponsive and his heart had stopped, when medics arrived at the store in the 9900 block of Holman Road Northwest. Medics were able to restart the man’s heart with CPR and a defibrillator.
Seattle Police Det. Mark Jamieson said the man had been pinned between the truck and the store’s loading dock.
He said the driver had not seen the man behind her truck until after she went into the store to get an employee to assist her with unloading.
Jamieson said the driver showed no signs of impairment and has been cooperating with the investigation.
KOMO-TV reported that the driver’s mother arrived at the scene and spoke with her daughter. She said the man wasn’t there when her daughter looked in her mirrors to begin backing.
