Seattle PD: Man sought in mother’s stabbing has been arrested
A man sought by police after his mother was stabbed in the face has been apprehended, according to Detective Jeff Kappel, writing on the Police Department blog SPD Blotter.
Kevin D. Ross, 34, was arrested Wednesday when police followed up on a report that somebody was sleeping in Peppis Park at 32nd Avenue and East Spruce Street.
Police say Ross showed up at his mother’s apartment near 18th Avenue and East Madison Street at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. He allegedly began stabbing her when she opened the door, then ran when his mother’s boyfriend came to see what the commotion was about. The boyfriend gave chase, but eventually lost sight of Ross.
Medics treated the mother at the scene and then took her to Harborview Medical Center.
According to other family members, Ross is homeless, suffers from mental illness and is abusing drugs, police said.
