Thursday Memo: Jogger attack … 520 head-on … Counterfeiting suspect busted

Woman attacked, groped in West Seattle: These stories are always scary. Early Wednesday morning, the woman was jogging along the 5400 block of California Avenue Southwest when a man came out of nowhere, grabbed her at the waist, pulled her down and fondled her. The woman screamed, and the man ran off.  Police searched the area but couldn’t find the attacker. If you have any information on the attack, call 911.

There are ethics codes, and then there is just poor taste: Turns out that a Spokane city councilman didn’t violate the city’s ethics code when he described the governor as a “lying whore,” according to a story in The Spokesman Review. While Councilman Mike Fagan’s description of Gov. Jay Inslee, which was in a letter he and a couple of others signed, was “provocative and controversial,” Spokane’s Ethics Committee says there was no ethics violation because it’s unclear whether the comment harmed the city and because free-speech issues come into play. Yes, of course. … Like we said, there are ethics codes, and then there is just poor taste.

A car carrying five girls went off the road and flipped early this morning near Puyallup. All the girls survived, and their injuries are reportedly not life-threatening. Alcohol may have been involved. … More to come.

There was a head-on collision on Highway 520 at Montlake Boulevard about 6 a.m., critically injuring a woman. It appears to have been a wrong-way driver. Authorities say alcohol appears to be involved here, too.

Counterfeiter bought your iPad, iPhone? If you’ve sold electronics items recently, the money you got may be uh, phony. … Everett police say they’ve arrested a 21-year-old man they claim was using bogus bills to buy electronics from people advertising them on Craigslist. He was reportedly doing it in King and Snohomish counties. They found counterfeiting gear at his apartment when they busted him.
