GEORGE, Grant County (AP) — The family of four who died when their car went into an irrigation canal over the weekend were from Stanwood, Snohomish County.
Their car crashed into the flowing canal and submerged near the Gorge Amphitheater Sunday morning. according to The Spokesman Review.
The family has been identified as 33-year-old Dioselina Buenrostro, 35-year-old Gabriel Ochoa, and two girls, 4-year-old Yesenia “Jessie” Ochoa, and 9-year-old Sandra Ochoa. Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison released the names Monday.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says the family’s SUV collided with a compact car at an intersection, then struck a guardrail and plunged into the canal. The SUV submerged and was pulled with the current about 100 yards downstream.
The adults died at the scene and the girls died at Quincy Valley Medical Center.
