Cayuse Pass to open tomorrow
Cayuse Pass on the east side of Mount Rainier is scheduled to open tomorrow, according to the National Park Service.
The pass, located between Highway 410 and State Route 123, was closed last November because of winter snow.
And, says Donna Rahier with the Park Service, the sun will be shining tomorrow. That’s what the National Weather Service says, too, with a high of 57 degrees.
No word yet when nearby Chinook Pass, which is at a higher elevation, will open exactly, but the state Department of Transportation said a couple of days ago that it’s still looking to reopen the pass a few days prior to the Memorial Day weekend.
