Fatal crash in Puyallup last night

A Puyallup man died late Thursday evening after crashing into the back of a semi-truck hauling 11,300 gallons of gasoline, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The accident occurred just before 11 p.m. on westbound State Route 512 near 94 Avenue East.

Trooper Guy Gill said investigators believe the pickup driver was going well over the posted speed limit of 60 miles per hour.

“This is a tragedy with a fatality for sure,” Gill said. “But it could have been much worse”

The driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the crash and no gasoline was spilled.
