Man attacked while waiting in downtown bus shelter

A man waiting in a Seattle bus shelter was beaten Monday morning by two strangers who tried to steal his wallet, police say.

The attack happened around 10 a.m. on the west side of Third Avenue near Jefferson Street, where the victim was shaken several times, causing his head to hit the concrete.

The suspects ran and soon a Metro bus pulled up. The driver let the victim take refuge in the bus until medics arrived, and the man was taken to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment.

The attackers are described as tall, in the 20s, and wearing hoodies, police said. Witnesses are asked to call 9-1-1.
