Man injured in Central District shooting on Thursday evening

Seattle police are searching for the suspect in a Central District shooting on Thursday evening that left a man wounded.

The victim, reported to be in his 30’s, was shot in the leg and taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police said the victim was leaving his gated yard and walking into the alley when he heard a man yelling something.  He  heard a single gunshot and was struck in the leg by a bullet before running back in the house, police said.

When officers arrived, the victim’s mother was attempting to take him to the hospital, police said.

Witnesses reported seeing  a male suspect running southbound through the alley with a gun in his hand, police said. He was described as a black man  in his 20′s wearing a black baseball cap and a black sweatshirt.

Anyone with information about this incident or who may know the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call 911 or Seattle Police.  Anonymous tips are welcome.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
