Seattle policed quickly found a 2½ -year-old child who was abducted Wednesday afternoon from the Mary’s Place shelter on Ninth Avenue in downtown Seattle. The child was unharmed.
According to a post in the police department’s blog, the child, the mother and the suspect were all in a common area of the shelter along with numerous other people when the mother turned away for just a moment. When she looked back, the child was gone.
Several officers conducted a search, and the department’s Crisis Intervention Team located the child at Seventh Avenue and Olive Way about 28 minutes after the first call came in, the blog says.
The suspect, a 33-year-old woman, was arrested and booked into jail for investigation of kidnapping, police say.
