Seattle police arrest man who allegedly attacked officers, stole a patrol car
A 2-mile car chase through downtown Seattle ended Thursday after police arrested a drunken man who allegedly assaulted another man, attacked two police officers and stole a patrol car, according to a post on the Seattle Police Department’s Blotter.
The suspect, 35, apparently started it all by assaulting a 50-year-old man just after 12:15 p.m. on a bus near Aurora Avenue and Denny Way, according to the post.
The suspect got off the bus and fled into the Battery Street tunnel, according to the post. The man allegedly fought off two SPD officers inside the tunnel and then hopped into a patrol car.
The car chase wound went north and west, according to the post. It ended when the suspect apparently ran over a retaining wall and crashed at West Olympic Place and 8th Avenue West.
Police temporarily closed off three streets around the crash sight.
