A murder warrant has been issued for a 31-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting May 22 at Renton’s Liberty Park, police said today.
According to a Renton police news release, Jerome “CJ” Linzy Hopkins is “associated” with the fatal shooting of Lonnie L. Reynolds, 20.
Hopkins is described as a black male, 6 feet tall and 305 pounds. Hopkins is associated with a dark-colored 2002 BMW 745 sedan, with Washington license plate AIT0364. Police say he may also have access to a red 2005 Suzuki GSX R60 with Washington license 972478.
Police said Hopkins should be considered armed and dangerous.
Police, responding to 911 calls reporting a shooting at the park on May 22, found Reynolds lying on the ground on the east side of the park. According to witnesses and city video monitoring, police learned that a fistfight had started between two women, each with a separate group of people. During the fight, guns were pulled by men in both groups and shots were fired. After the shooting, most of those involved fled.
Reynolds, who was shot once, was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where she died.
Anyone with information on Hopkins’ whereabouts should call 911, or the Renton Police Department at 425-430-7500 (reference case 13-5506).
