TACOMA (AP) — One of Washington’s most notorious sex offenders is running for a job as a Port of Tacoma commissioner.
Andre Brigham Young, who calls himself Andre “Doctor Dre” Young, says he wants to make up for the years he says the state took from him.
The News Tribune reports the 72-year-old Level 3 sex offender spent 20 years in prison on six rape convictions and another 20 years committed at the sex predator Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island.
Young says he was wrongly convicted, and his commitment was illegal. He refused treatment. He has not been arrested since his release in 2010.
