Boy, 6, badly hurt in fall from open window in Whatcom County

The Associated Press

LYNDEN, Whatcom County — Police in Lynden say a 6-year-old boy was seriously hurt when he fell from a second-story window.

The Bellingham Herald reports that Police Chief Jack Foster says the boy was alone in a bedroom Tuesday evening, talking out the open window to a younger brother on the ground below.

The 6-year-old fell about 15 feet to a concrete patio, hitting his head. He suffered what were described as life-threatening injuries.

Foster says the boy’s mother was downstairs.

Lynden Fire Chief Gary Baar says the boy was airlifted to a Seattle hospital. An update on his condition wasn’t available Wednesday.
