Computer problem delays all Alaska Airlines flights for an hour

Alaska Airlines flights across the country were prevented from taking off  for about an hour late Friday afternoon because of a computer problem, officials said.

The airline’s network went down at around 3:45 p.m. and was restored at about 4:45 p.m., said spokeswoman Marianne Lindsey.

Flights in the air, as well as other airlines, were not affected by the outage, said Perry Cooper, a spokesman for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Officials said they did not know the reason for the outage.

“I sure wish we did,” Lindsey said.
