Herrera Beutler says there’s a serious problem with her unborn child

The Associated Press

CAMAS, Clark County — U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler  who announced on May 1 she is expecting her first child said Monday that an ultrasound has detected a serious problem with the pregnancy called Potter’ Syndrome.

On her Facebook page she describes it as low amniotic fluid caused by impaired kidney function that inhibits lung development and is often fatal.

Herrera Beutler says there is no medical solution available, and she and her husband Daniel are praying for a miracle.

She says she will continue to balance the responsibilities of an expectant mother and serving in Congress.

The second term Republican from Camas represents the 3rd District in southwest Washington.
