A King County Superior Court jury found Cu Van Truong guilty of first-degree murder this afternoon for the fatal shooting of Jason Saechao at a White Center bakery in December 2011, according to King County prosecutors.
The 27-year-old Truong, who had stipulated to a second charge of unlawful possession of a firearm, faces a sentence of 40-50 years in prison when he is sentenced by Judge Catherine Shaffer. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
Truong had claimed self defense, court records show.
Saechao, had been released from the King County Jail six days before he was killed after spending a month behind bars for violating conditions of his community supervision on a felony conviction.
He had just turned 24 when he was killed Dec. 28, 2011 at the Seattle Roll Bakery, at 9828 16th Ave. S.W. in White Center, during an argument with Truong.
Truong fled the scene and threatened three witnesses, who later identified Truong as the gunman.
