A pedestrian tumbled 20 feet or more off Aurora Avenue onto Mercer Street on Saturday afternoon, and apparently survived.
The incident happened around 4 p.m. Police mentioned it on Twitter but haven’t provided an update. The man was walking south on Aurora Avenue, in a construction zone without a sidewalk, when he fell onto the right eastbound lane of Mercer, said William Braxton, who was selling the Real Change newspaper to motorists waiting at a Mercer Street stoplight. Braxton said in an interview the man seemed “intoxicated,” and his body looked limp as he struck the roadway feet and hips first. The man was conscious when medics arrived, Braxton said.
