I-405 reopens; truck driver cited

semiLOK4UPDATE 10:15 A.M. | All lanes of southbound Interstate 405 have now reopened.  The truck driver, cited for negligent driving, was apparently distracted at the time of the accident, accordng to the State Patrol.

UPDATE 9:20 A.M.  |  The 29-year-old Olympia man driving the rig that overturned on I-405 this morning was cited for negligent driving, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Karim Boukabou. Boukabou said three cars hit the truck after it fell over, but no one was seriously injured.

UPDATE 9 a.m.  | One lane around the truck was reopened after a bulldozer pushed the trailer out of the way.  But the lane was closed again just before 9 a.m. to allow tow trucks to get in position to get the trailer upright and move it.

PREVIOUS POST: An overturned semi is blocking all southbound lanes of Interstate 405 just past Highway 167 in Renton.
A WSDOT spokesman said the truck, now on its side, was carrying a load of bread.

The accident occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. and within a half-hour, traffic was backed up for more than three miles.

Early reports indicate the driver was not seriously hurt.  No other vehicles were involved.

According to a WSDOT tweet: “This is going to be there quite a while.”
