Pacific mayor recall election is today
Today is Election Day in the recall measure of Pacific Mayor Cy Sun.
Ballots must be postmarked no later than today or put in a ballot drop box by 8 p.m., according to King County Elections.
There are about 3,000 voters in Pacific who can participate in the special election to determine if Sun, 83, who won as a write-in candidate last year, will stay in office.
Sun has forced several department heads out of office, including three police chiefs, and there are some $11 million in lawsuits against the city stemming from all the turmoil in this town of 6,000.
His supporters say Sun is a war hero who won an insurgent election campaign and has taken tough steps to clean up corruption in Pacific.
Since this is such a small election, ballots will be counted by hand beginning at 8 p.m. today, and King County Elections says it will post initial results by 10 p.m. on its elections site.
