Authorities and volunteers are continuing to scour Southwest Washington’s Gifford Pinchot National Forest for 19-year-old Maureen Kelly, although a formal search-and-rescue mission has been temporarily suspended, according to the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday night it had suspended the search pending further investigation.
An employee with the office said Thursday she did not have any details about an investigation. Undersheriff Dave Cox did not respond to a message seeking comment.
Kelly was reported missing after not returning from a hike Sunday evening. Before departing, she apparently told fellow campers she was going on a “spirtual quest.” Then, she left wearing only a fanny pack.
