Seattle police arrest armed high-school student
Seattle police arrested a high-school student after receiving reports he was on his way to school with a gun Thursday afternoon, officials said.
The 15-year-old student was indeed carrying an unloaded handgun when officers found him in the 1400 block of Northwest 85th Street, according to an item posted in the Seattle Police Department blotter.
The student was reportedly en route to the Interagency Academy, an alternative school for troubled kids located in the 800 block of Third Avenue in downtown Seattle. Police locked down the school site for about 90 minutes as they searched for the student.
Initial reports did not indicate the student had threatened any of his classmates or teachers, police said.
The Seattle Times wrote about the Interagency Academy last year.
