Weekend weather: cooler but dry

Don’t panic if you see clouds when you wake up Friday.  The National Weather Service is still expecting a pleasant – though not particularly warm – weekend in the Puget Sound area.

Friday brings about a 20 percent chance of showers in Seattle, with a greater likelihood of rain in the mountains and along the coast.  But Danny Mercer of the Weather Service said the showers are not expected to linger, and Friday’s high should be in the mid 60s to low 70s.

Saturday is expected to start partly cloudy and then turn sunny, with highs into the low 70s.  Sunday’ should be sunny and dry, but cooler, with highs staying in the 60s.

The 80-degree high at SeaTac Wednesday made it the warmest day since May 11, when the high was 81.  But it was nowhere near the record for the date, 92, hit in 1978.

Mostly sunny skies and a high of 77 are forecast for SeaTac today.
