Body found on Sodo railroad tracks
Seattle police are reporting that a woman’s body was found early this morning on a stretch of railroad tracks near Sodo. She did not appear to have been struck by a train.
Police were dispatched to the scene near Fifth Avenue South and South Spokane Street at 5:22 a.m. after a train engineer reported seeing the body on the tracks.
SPD spokesman Mark Jamieson said the woman did not appear to have been struck by a train. He called the situation “suspicious,” adding that homicide detectives are investigating.
Train service near the scene has been suspended. SPD said it is working with railroad officials to get the tracks open quickly.
